In Java the Singleton pattern will ensure that there is only one instance of a class is created in the Java Virtual Machine. It is used to provide global point of access to the object. In terms of practical use Singleton patterns are used in logging, caches, thread pools, configuration settings, device driver objects.

What is the use of Singleton design pattern in Java?

Singleton is a creational design pattern, which ensures that only one object of its kind exists and provides a single point of access to it for any other code. Singleton has almost the same pros and cons as global variables. Although they're super-handy, they break the modularity of your code.

Where do we use singleton class in real time?

For example running a trial version of a software with one license and one database connection ,that uses singleton pattern in real word. may be the guru jon skeet can provide example like this. Singleton pattern is generally useful when the object that is created once and shared across different threads/Applications.

What is the need of Singleton pattern?

A singleton should be used when managing access to a resource which is shared by the entire application, and it would be destructive to potentially have multiple instances of the same class. Making sure that access to shared resources thread safe is one very good example of where this kind of pattern can be vital.

Where singleton is used in spring?

What is difference between Singleton and static class in Java?

Singleton is a design pattern. Static classes are basically a way of grouping classes together in Java. ... It cannot implement the interface or any other base class. Singleton classes can be used as a method parameter.

What are the advantages of singleton class in Java?

• Singletons can implement interfaces.
• Singletons can be passed as parameters.
• Singletons can have their instances swapped out (such as for testing purposes)

How can we implement Singleton design pattern in MVC?

1. Declare a private constructor for the class for which you want to make Singleton.
2. Declare a static variable for that class.
3. Create a static method for that class and assign the object to the declared static variable.

What is the need of factory design pattern in Java?

The factory design pattern says that define an interface ( A java interface or an abstract class) and let the subclasses decide which object to instantiate. ... It is one of the best ways to create an object where object creation logic is hidden to the client.

Are singletons thread safe?

What is the best way to create singleton class in Java?

1. Eager initialization: In eager initialization, the instance of Singleton Class is created at the time of class loading, this is the easiest method to create a Singleton class. By making the constructor as private you are not allowing other class to create a new instance of the class you want to create the Singleton.
