A sectional view must not have any full lines drawn over hatched areas. As a general rule, dimensions are NOT inserted in hatched areas.

What components are not hatched?

Parts that are not Cross Hatched

These standard parts include solid shafts, bolts and nuts, washers, ribs and spokes of wheels, and webs.

What parts on a section view are not sectioned hatched )?

Notice that the visible background shapes without hidden lines, appear in each sectional view. To avoid a false impression of thickness and solidity, ribs, webs, gear teeth, and other similar flat features are not sectioned, even though the cutting plane passes along the center plane of the feature.

What should not be shown in section view?

All the visible edges behind the cutting plane should be shown. Hidden features should be omitted in all areas of a section view. Some of the items such as shafts, fasteners, rivets, keys, ribs, webs, and spokes, not usually sectioned.

What are the rules of sectioning?

Rules of Sectioning

Rule 1: A section lined area is always completely bounded by a visible outline. Rule 2: The section lines in all areas should be parallel. Section lines shown in opposite directions indicate a different part. Rule 3: All the visible edges behind the cutting plane should be shown.

Section Views: What are they and How to Create one

What is sectioning why it is required?

Sections are used to clarify the interior construction of a part that cannot be clearly described by hidden lines in exterior views. By taking an imaginary cut through the object and removing a portion, the inside features may be seen more clearly.

What is the need for sectioning?

You should only be sectioned if: you need to be assessed or treated for your mental health problem. your health would be at risk of getting worse if you did not get treatment. your safety or someone else's safety would be at risk if you did not get treatment.

What are the parts not usually sectioned?

In addition to thin structural features, parts not sectioned also include standard mechanical elements such as shafts, bolts, screws, nuts, rivets, keys, pins, bearings, and gear teeth. The shaft, bolts, and nuts of the assembly are not sectioned even though they are cut by the cutting plane.

How do I hatch a section view?

In the graphics window or in the browser, select the section view. Right-click and select Edit View. In the Drawing View dialog, open the Display Options tab, and clear or select the Hatching option.

What is Section hatching?

∎ Cross hatching in the section view shows the. solid surface of the object which were cut through to produce the section. ∎ Section views may replace standard views. ∎ Conventional practices, such as not showing. hatching on ribs and webs, help make sections easier to interpret correctly.

What is a section view drawing?

∎ A section view is a view used on a drawing to. show an area or hidden part of an object by. cutting away or removing some of that object.

What is a scrap view on a drawing?

A scrap section lets you see the section of holes on a hidden view. You can also create scrap sections from hole patterns. To create a scrap section view: Create a model similar to the one below: Create a corresponding drawing.

What are the 7 types of section views?

There are a number of different types of sectional views that can be drawn. A few of the more common ones are: full sections, half sections, broken sections, rotated or revolved sections, removed sections, offset sections, and assembly sections.

What is sectioning in engineering drawing?

A 'section drawing', 'section' or 'sectional drawing' shows a view of a structure as though it had been sliced in half or cut along another imaginary plane. ... Plan drawings are in fact a type of section, but they cut through the building on a horizontal rather than vertical plane.

What is hatching in design?

Hatching (hachure in French) is an artistic technique used to create tonal or shading effects by drawing (or painting or scribing) closely spaced parallel lines. ... Artists use the technique, varying the length, angle, closeness and other qualities of the lines, most commonly in drawing, linear painting and engraving.

When should you use a hatch pattern for section views?

In section views, hatch lines (also called section lines) are used to indicate solid materials that are cut through. Some hatch pattern types are used to represent specific materials. Hatch lines are usually drawn at angles between 15o and 75o but must not be parallel or perpendicular to object visible lines.

Why is the Hatch command used in section view?

Hatch is used to show which areas have been 'cut away' in the section view (and where there would be solid material).

How do you add a hatch in Creo?

1. Open a drawing with one or more flat surfaces.
2. Select Surface from the drawing object filter.
3. Select one or more flat surfaces.
4. Click Layout > Hatch/Fill.
5. Type a name for the cross section or accept the default name to open the MOD XHATCH menu on the Menu Manager. ...
6. A crosshatch is created by default.

When should a revolved section be used?

Use a revolved section when the part is long and thin and when its shape in cross section is the same throughout, as in Figure 8-14.

What is half section view?

A half-section is a view of an object showing one-half of the view in section, as in the drawing below. ... The lines are thin and are usually drawn at a 45-degree angle to the major outline of the object.

What is a hidden line?

A hidden line, also known as a hidden object line is a medium weight line, made of short dashes about 1/8” long with 1/16”gaps, to show edges, surfaces and corners which cannot be seen. Sometimes they are used to make a drawing easier to understand.

What offset sectioning?

Offset sectioning is a multi-plane section cut that shows stepped sectioning with 90 degree angles or any defined angle based on how users define the cut. Once defined, one can rotate, zoom, and perform measurements similar to other section plane features.

What is the need of sectioning in solids?

SECTIONING A SOLID. An object ( here a solid ) is cut by some imaginary cutting plane to understand internal details of that object. The action of cutting is called SECTIONING a solid & The plane of cutting is called SECTION PLANE.

Why are building sections important?

The purpose of a section is to show, graphically, the main volumes of the building and the main building material components. ... The key to producing a useful section is to “cut” through the most typical building volumes. This helps viewers understand the structure as a whole, and major relationships between spaces.

What is a building section?

A building section, a section drawing, section, or a sectional drawing is known by all these different names but basically, presents the view of a building's structure in a way that it looks like it had been cut and sliced in half along an imaginary plane.
