• Extensor carpi radialis longus.
• Extensor carpi ulnaris.

What is innervated by the radial nerve?

The radial nerve is a nerve in the human body that supplies the posterior portion of the upper limb. It innervates the medial and lateral heads of the triceps brachii muscle of the arm, as well as all 12 muscles in the posterior osteofascial compartment of the forearm and the associated joints and overlying skin.

What does radial nerve control?

The radial nerve runs from the upper arm to the wrist and fingers. This nerve controls movement and sensation in the arm and hand and extension of the elbow, wrist and fingers.

What does the radial nerve affect?

The radial nerve runs down the underside of your arm and controls movement of the triceps muscle, which is located at the back of the upper arm. The radial nerve is responsible for extending the wrist and fingers. It also controls sensation in part of the hand.

Is biceps Brachii innervated by radial nerve?

Brachialis ( also has supply from Radial nerve) Biceps Brachii(both long head and short head)

What muscles are innervated by the ulnar nerve?

The ulnar nerve innervates the flexor muscles of the forearm including the flexor carpi ulnaris and flexor digitorum profundus. It also innervates the intrinsic muscles of the hand including the palmaris brevis, lumbricals, hypothenar and interossei muscles.

Which muscles are innervated by the suprascapular nerve?

The suprascapular nerve branches provide efferent innervation to the supraspinatus and infraspinatus muscles as well as sensory innervation to the shoulder joint.

What fingers does the radial nerve control?

The radial nerve runs down the arm and to the fingertips. If it's injured, radial nerve pain usually occurs when your palm is pressed against something and your wrist is bent back. It's typically a sharp, radiating, or burning pain in the back of the hand, around the thumb, and in the middle and index fingers.

What are the muscles in the forearm?

• The forearm is the portion of the arm distal to the elbow and proximal to the wrist. ...
• The superficial layer contains 4 muscles.
• The flexor carpi ulnaris, palmaris longus, flexor carpi radialis, and pronator teres.

What is radial palsy?

Radial nerve palsy is a result of compression of the radial nerve, often caused by fracture of the humerus bone. This results in pain, weakness, or loss of function in a person's wrist, hand, and fingers.

Which of the muscles of the upper arm is are innervated by the musculocutaneous nerve?

The musculocutaneous nerve innervates the three muscles of the anterior compartment of the arm: the coracobrachialis, biceps brachii, and brachialis.

What causes Klumpke's palsy?

Klumpke paralysis is caused by an injury to the nerves of the brachial plexus that which may result during birth due to a a difficult delivery. This injury can cause a stretch injury (neuropraxia), scarring, or tearing of the brachial plexus nerves.

What is Saturday palsy?

THE TERM Saturday night palsy has become synonymous with radial nerve compression in the arm resulting from direct pressure against a firm object. It typically follows deep sleep on the arm, often after alcohol intoxication. The commonly accepted origin of the phrase is the association of Saturday night with carousing.

What muscles does the posterior interosseous nerve innervate?

The posterior interosseous nerve is a motor nerve and sequentially innervates supinator, extensor carpi radialis brevis, extensor digitorum communis, extensor digiti minimi, extensor carpi ulnaris, abductor pollicis, extensor pollicis brevis, extensor pollicis longus, and extensor indicis.

What nerve innervates the triceps?

Innervation of the triceps brachii muscle by the ulnar nerve has important clinical and surgical implications.

What nerve root Innervates the triceps?

All the three heads of triceps brachii are innervated by the four branches of the radial nerve (C7, C8). However, according to the cadaveric study it is found that the medial head of triceps brachii is innervated by the ulnar nerve..

What are radial nerves?

The radial nerve travels down the arm and supplies movement to the triceps muscle at the back of the upper arm. It also provides extension to the wrist, and helps in movement and sensation of the wrist and hand.

What are the flexor muscles of the forearm?

The superficial compartment of the flexor surface of the forearm contains the pronator teres, the flexor carpi radialis longus, the palmaris longus, the flexor carpi ulnaris, and the flexor digitorum superficialis. All of these muscles originate primarily from the medial epicondyle of the humerus.

What are the extensor muscles?

Extensor muscle, any of the muscles that increase the angle between members of a limb, as by straightening the elbow or knee or bending the wrist or spine backward. The movement is usually directed backward, with the notable exception of the knee joint.

What happens if a nerve is hit during a blood draw?

There are bundles of nerves close to your major veins, and if one of those nerves is nicked or punctured by the phlebotomist (the person drawing your blood), you could experience the following: The feeling of an electric shock during the procedure. Persistent pain in the arm. Numbness and tingling in the arm and hand.

What causes claw hand?

The causes of Claw Hand might include: Nerve damage in the arm e.g ulnar palsy, median palsy, ulnar tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome. Congenital birth defect. Some genetic diseases such as Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease.

What is Wartenberg's syndrome?

Introduction. Wartenberg's Syndrome is described as the entrapment of the superficial branch of the radial nerve with only sensory manifestations and no motor deficits. In this condition, the patient reports pain over the distal radial forearm associated with paresthesia over the dorsal radial hand.

What is the infraspinatus muscle innervated by?

The suprascapular nerve (C5-C6) innervates the infraspinatus. It originates at the superior trunk of the brachial plexus. It runs laterally across the lateral cervical region to supply the infraspinatus and also the supraspinatus.

What nerve innervates the latissimus dorsi muscle?

The thoracodorsal nerve is a pure motor nerve that innervates the latissimus dorsi muscle. The latissimus dorsi muscle is a large, fan-shaped muscle that originates from the spinous processes of T7 to L5, the thoracolumbar fascia, and iliac crest.

Does infraspinatus abduct?

Infraspinatus is the main external rotator of the shoulder joint. It assists in producing shoulder extension. With the arm fixed, it abducts the inferior angle of the scapula.
