Ferrochrome, or Ferrochromium (FeCr) is a type of ferroalloy, that is, an alloy between chromium and iron, generally containing 50% to 70% chromium and is used in the production of stainless steel, special steel and castings.

What is low carbon ferrochrome?

LC FeCr (Low Carbon Ferrochrome) is a ferro-alloy used to regulate the ratio of Chromium in steel production without Carbon and other unwanted ingredients. Due to high quality it is a reliable and economical alternative instead of metallic Chromium in Superalloy production.

What is ferro manganese used for?

Low Carbon Ferro Manganese (LCFeMn) & Medium Carbon Ferro Manganese is mainly used for producing E6013 electrodes. Ferro manganese is used in producing steel for being an excellent deoxidizer and desulfurizer.

Is ferrochrome toxic?

Due to the leaching potential of these contaminants, ferrochrome arc furnace dust is categorized as toxic waste in Canada (waste K091) and must be treated before disposal in order to prevent leaching toxins into the environment. Health risks via inhalation are also a concern.

Is ferrochrome a mineral?

Ferrochrome: The alloy formed when natural chromite mineral is reduced, in the presence of fluxes (which reduce the mixture melting point) with carbonaceous reductant such as coal, anthracite, coke or char. Its main components are: Cr-Fe-C-Si in decreasing order of concentration.

Where is ferrochrome industry in Odisha?

Tata Steel's first greenfield ferro-chrome plant in India at Gopalpur Industrial Park in Ganjam district of Odisha has started production. Chromite briquettes used for making ferro-chrome have been produced by the briquetting plant at the ferro-chrome plant complex.

What is Ferro Manganese Slag?

The Ferro Manganese Slag, offered by us is available in different grades that are ranging from 18% to 34% of manganese oxide (MnO). ... The Ferro Manganese Slag is mainly used in the alloys industry, silicon manganese industry and fluxes manufacturing.

How do you make ferro manganese?

It is made by heating a mixture of the oxides MnO₂ and Fe₂O₃, with carbon (usually as coal and coke) in either a blast furnace or an electric arc furnace-type system, called a submerged arc furnace. The oxides undergo carbothermal reduction in the furnaces, producing the ferromanganese.

What is the difference between ferro silico manganese and silico manganese?

The key difference between ferro manganese and silico manganese is that ferro manganese is a type of manganese alloy containing manganese and iron along with some amount of carbon, whereas silico manganese contains silicon and manganese along with some amount of carbon.

What is high carbon ferro chrome?

High carbon ferrochrome represents a group of alloys with a chromium content typically between 60% and 70% and a carbon content typically between 4% and 6%. To meet this specification the alloy requires a chromite ore with a high Cr/Fe ratio (>2).

What is the meaning of ferro alloys?

: a crude alloy of iron with one or more other elements (as metals) used for deoxidizing molten steel and making alloy steels.

What is added to steel to make it stainless?

The alloying element that makes steel 'stainless' is chromium; however it is the addition of nickel that enables stainless steel to become such a versatile alloy. It is the addition of nickel that enables stainless steel to become such a versatile alloy.
