Tunable white light is a technology that enables users to adjust the color temperature of a lamp in real time. For LEDs, users modify the correlated color temperature (CCT) and intensity of the source with an input, such as a slider control or intelligent lighting management system.

What is a tunable bulb?

Tunable bulbs can have the color temperature adjusted -- you can tune it from a warm soft light, which mimics old incandescent bulbs, to a cooler white - which is more like daylight or bright sunlight. ... Tunable will change from cool (blue white) to warm (red white) light and is usually dimmable as well with an app.

What does tunable lighting mean?

Tunable white lighting technology is defined as the ability to control a light source's color temperature output. It is also referred to as variable white, dim-to-white, hybrid white, or custom temperature lighting from other manufacturers.

What is tunable white LED strip?

LINEARlight FLEX Tunable White is designed to very high specifications, with professional lighting needs in mind — you can make any space remarkable with this flexible, cuttable strip of LEDs, tunable between 2,700 K and 6,500 K white, and dimmable with PWM technology.

What is white tuning?

Also called Kelvin changing and tunable white, white tuning is a lighting technique that uses LEDs to adjust the white color temperature and intensity of light in a room. ... Different types of lighting can lend a room a warmer appearance with hues of red and orange, or make a room seem cooler with bluish tints.

Why is tunable white?

Perhaps the most important advantage of tunable white light is its ability to enhance the level of human experience. For one thing, when programmed to emulate the changing colors and intensities of the natural daylighting cycle, tunable white LEDs can improve occupant mental health and productivity.

What is color tunable?

Color-Tunable products are defined as products whose Correlated Color Temperature (CCT) can be adjusted via an input control of any type and whose chromaticity approximately follows the blackbody locus, providing white light at all input configurations.

What is dynamic white lighting?

Now a single light source can be tuned to output warm white light, cool white light, and anything in between. ... The output can be fixed for an occupant's needs, or vary based on time of day or other schedule.

What is CCT LED strip?

Dual-white CCT stands for 'correlated colour temperature' LED tape. ... Just like other strip-light products, dual-white LED tapes can be manufactured to output different brightness levels (depending on the power they draw and the spacing between LEDs; more LEDs per metre gives better colour mix and less spotting).

What is circadian light?

Circadian lighting aims to keep the body's internal clock aligned with the 24-hour diurnal/nocturnal cycle by emitting bright bluish light during the day to suppress the melatonin that our brains produce as a natural sleep aid.

What does RGB tunable mean?

Full-color-tunable

These products, also referred to as RGB, RGBA, RGBW, spectrally tunable, or color changing, usually have three or more different LED primaries that can be individually varied in output to create a mixture of light that is white, a tint of white, or a saturated hue.

What is a tunable light source?

The Tunable Light Sources (TLS) is a pre-aligned, preassembled illumination system capable of outputting monochromatic light from 200-2500 nm. This is a complete plug and play system and includes TLS-C1 software. TLS is composed of Zolix light source and spectrometer.

What the LED colors mean?

The lower the color temperature, the warmer the light will appear, or the redder it will appear. The higher the temperature, the cooler the light will appear, or the bluer it will look. In the residential and commercial lighting world, almost all fixtures will land somewhere between 2000K and 6000K.

How do you control LED color temperature?

Generally there is a dip switch on the fixture that when switched will change the color temperature from 2700K or 3000K all the way up to 5000K. This technology is controlled within by new, sophisticated LED drivers that allow for independent control of the color temperature as well as the light output.

How do I change the color of my LED temperature?

If you're specifically looking to convert your cool LED bulbs to warmer color temperatures, you need orange or red gels. These are often called CTOs (color temperature orange). Depending on the strength, orange gels can neutralize a cool LED or completely transform it into a warm white.

Are C by GE bulbs dimmable?

LED light bulbs with optimal daytime light: The C by GE smart LED light bulbs offer dimmable warm, soft white light that feels just right. The warm white LED light bulbs easily create the perfect lighting for any room.

What is a RGBW controller?

RGBW controller can adjust the brightness of the white light for RGBW LED strip. ... It can mix and produce millions of colors, and adjust the color temperature of white light for RGB+CCT LED strip lights, to produce warm white, neutral white, and cool white light.

How does CCT work?

Correlated color temperature (CCT) is a measure of light source color appearance defined by the proximity of the light source's chromaticity coordinates to the blackbody locus, as a single number rather than the two required to specify a chromaticity.

What does CCT adjustable mean in lighting?

With the simple push of a button, adjustable CCT LEDs are able to change between different temperatures of white light. This feature allows one fixture to have multiple white tones, ranging from warm, to daylight, to cool. ... Install the fixture, and change the color temperature until it's right.

What is comfort dim?

An innovation in energy efficient dimming, Comfort Dim warms the light as power is reduced by tuning the temperature from bright and crisp to warm and romantic with an incandescent feel. Comfort Dim is offered on the Sapphire, Marquise, Iolite and Cobalt Click series downlights, 6" Cylinders and iLENE Mini Cylinders.

Do LED lights get warmer when dimmed?

Not all LEDs dim the same. Philips LED bulbs with a warm glow dimming effect, dim just like traditional incandescent bulbs. They get warmer in tone as the light gets dim. Other LED bulbs simply get less bright, without the cozy glow.

What is the best color temperature for office lighting?

The best light temperature for offices is between 3500 Kelvin and 5500 Kelvin . Anything above 5500K is just too blue and anything below 3500K will make your employees less productive.

What is the dimmest color?

Blue stars tend to be the brightest, and red stars the dimmest. But more experienced observers will encounter red stars at night that are brighter than white or blue ones.

What is warm dim?

Simply put, Warm Dim technology allows LED lights to dim down to a warmer color temperature, replicating the effect of incandescent and halogen light bulbs. With Warm Dim, your LEDs lights now provide that comforting, amber glow all while remaining energy-efficient.

What does white LED lights mean?

“Cool” white LEDs emit more blue, and the radiation is classified as hotter, although again, humans have an alternative perception that determines the light is cooler.
