- Ethylene is a simple molecule existing in gaseous form that promotes flowering and synchronizing fruit set in pineapples.

Which is used to initiate flowering and synchronising fruit set in pineapple?

Ethylene is used to initiate flowering and for synchronising fruit-set in pineapples.

Which hormone is responsible for flowering in pineapple?

Abstract: As a gaseous plant hormone, ethylene is responsible for inducing the initiation of reproductive development in pineapple.

Which of the following includes fruit set in pineapple?

Explanation: Ethylene is one of the 'hormone' which is present in the 'flowers of pineapple' so that the fruit formation occurs fast.

Which hormone is used for fruit setting?

Owing to its predominant role in ripening of the climacteric fruits, ethylene remains the most explored hormone (Bapat et al., 2010). Two systems of ethylene biosynthesis operate during fruit development and ripening in climacteric fruits.

Ethylene is used to initiate flowering and for synchorinising fruit set in pineapples.

What is the meaning of synchronising fruit set in pineapple?

Ethylene initiates flowering and synchronises fruit-set in pineapples. It is a gaseous plant growth regulator which also hastens the ripening of fruits and promotes abscission and senescence of leaves and flowers. It is commonly used in the form of Ethephon which releases ethylene slowly from an aqueous solution.

Which hormone helps in flowering in plants?

Ethylene and Cytokinin

Cytokinins regulate a wide range of growth and developmental processes throughout the life cycle of a plant, including seed germination, leaf expansion, induction of flowering, as well as flowering and seed development (Sun and Gubler, 2004; Yamaguchi, 2008).

Does ethylene initiate flowering?

Ethylene is used to initiate flowering and for synchorinising fruit set in pineapples.

What is GA hormone?

Gibberellic acid (also called gibberellin A3, GA, and GA₃) is a hormone found in plants and fungi. ... GA stimulates the cells of germinating seeds to produce mRNA molecules that code for hydrolytic enzymes. Gibberellic acid is a very potent hormone whose natural occurrence in plants controls their development.

What are the actions of ABA?

Abscisic acid (ABA) is a plant hormone. ABA functions in many plant developmental processes, including seed and bud dormancy, the control of organ size and stomatal closure.

Which chemical is responsible for flowering?

Florigen (or flowering hormone) is the hypothesized hormone-like molecule responsible for controlling and/or triggering flowering in plants. Florigen is produced in the leaves, and acts in the shoot apical meristem of buds and growing tips.

How do you induce pineapple flowering?

You can make them flower sooner. When your plant is 18 to 24 inches tall, set an apple or a banana among the foliage. The fruit will give off ethylene gas, which triggers flowering. Cover the plant with clear plastic to hold in the gas.

What hormone induces mango flowering?

Among the chemicals suggested, paclobutrazol is considered as one of important plant growth retardant which restricts vegetative growth and induce flowering in many fruit species including mango (Yadav et al., 2005).

Which is antagonistic to gibberellins?

Gibberellins and Abscisic Acid (ABA) are antagonistic to each other.

Which PGR is responsible for promotion of root growth and root hair formation?

Auxin is produced by the tip of the stem and helps in the elongation of cells. It promotes cell elongation, root growth and shoot growth.

How do gibberellins promote flowering?

Gibberellins promote flowering in Arabidopsis through the activation of genes encoding the floral integrators SUPPRESSOR OF OVEREXPRESSION OF CONSTANS 1 (SOC1), LEAFY (LFY), and FLOWERING LOCUS T (FT) in the inflorescence and floral meristems, and in leaves, respectively.

What is the function of gibberellins?

Gibberellins (GAs) are plant hormones that regulate various developmental processes, including stem elongation, germination, dormancy, flowering, flower development, and leaf and fruit senescence. GAs are one of the longest-known classes of plant hormone.

What are gibberellins?

Gibberellins are a group of plant hormones responsible for growth and development. They are important for initiating seed germination . Low concentrations can be used to increase the speed of germination, and they stimulate cell elongation so plants grow taller. They are naturally produced by barley and other seeds.

What induces ethylene formation in plants?

Environmental cues such as flooding, drought, chilling, wounding, and pathogen attack can induce ethylene formation in plants.

How is ethylene created?

Ethylene is an important industrial organic chemical. ... It is produced by heating either natural gas, especially its ethane and propane components, or petroleum to 800–900 °C (1,470–1,650 °F), giving a mixture of gases from which the ethylene is separated.

Which plant hormones trigger the production of flowers and fruits?

Cytokinin is known as the hormone responsible for cell division. It stimulates the metabolism and the formation of flowers on side shoots, and as such it is a counterpart to auxin. Cytokinin is most concentrated in the youngest parts of the plant, such as the seeds, fruits, young leaves and root tips.

Which of the following hormone is responsible for fruit ripening?

Ethylene is a plant growth regulator or hormone which induces the ripening process in fruits and it hastens the process of ripening.

Which hormone is playing dominant role in flowering of plants?

Auxins promote stem elongation, inhibit growth of lateral buds (maintains apical dominance). They are produced in the stem, buds, and root tips. Example: Indole Acetic Acid (IA). Auxin is a plant hormone produced in the stem tip that promotes cell elongation.

Which hormone helps in the separation of leaves flowers and fruits?

The hormone ethylene has two functions. It (1) helps ripen fruit and (2) is involved in the process of abscission, the dropping of leaves, fruits, and flowers.
