Keeping the potential difference constant , the resistance of a circuit is halved.

Why potential difference is constant?

The resistance of the resistor hasn't changed, so each coulomb of charge still needs to do the same amount of work on the resistor to flow through it. In other words, the potential difference across a component is defined as the work each coulomb of charge needs to do on the component to flow through it.

What will happen to the current when the potential difference is kept constant and the resistance of the circuit is halved?

Now, according to the question, the resistance of the circuit is halved and the potential difference is constant. It is clear from the above statement that the current becomes double.

What will be the change in the current if the potential difference is kept constant and the resistance of the circuit is made four times?

According to Ohm's law, the product of current and resistance should remain constant if the potential applied is the same. Hence, if resistance is made four times, then current should be one-fourth.

What will be the value of current in a circuit with constant potential difference and resistance is doubled?

Current is directly proportional to Voltage and Inversely proportional to Resistance. According to Question, Given that,Keeping the potential difference constant, the resistance of a circuit is doubled. ... The Current will become Half.

How does a battery maintain a constant Potential Difference between its terminals

What happens to potential difference if the resistance doubles and the current remains the same?

The current is directly proportional to the voltage and inversely proportional to the resistance. Any alteration in the voltage will result in the same alteration of the current. ... So doubling or tripling the resistance will cause the current to be one-half or one-third the original value.

When the resistance in a circuit remains constant How are the voltage and current related?

What is the resistance of a light bulb if a potential difference of 120 V will produce a current of 0.5 A in the bulb? When the resistance in a circuit remains constant, how are the voltage and current related? The current doubles when the voltage doubles because they are directly proportional.

What will be the change in current If the potential difference is kept constant?

It will becomes one-fourth.

What would happen if the potential difference across the ends of a conductor is doubled the current flowing through it gets?

The current is directly proportional to the potential difference. Therefore if the potential difference across the ends of a conductor is doubled the current flowing through it also gets doubled.

What happens to the current if the potential difference is halved?

Hence current will become 4 times the original value.

What happens to the current value if the potential difference is increased keeping resistance value same?

the current will not change.

What will happen to the current of resistance is doubled while voltage is kept constant?

Answer: The current is inversely proportional to the resistance. This means that with a constant voltage source in the input, then current will decrease in half if resistance is doubled.

When resistance increases and current is held constant voltage also increases?

If you have a constant current source passing through a resistor, then, yes, increasing the value of the resistor will increase the voltage drop across it. Ohm's Law gives the resistance as the ratio of the voltage and current, as R = V/I. None of these are necessarily constant, all three are variables.

How is a constant potential difference maintained across a conductor?

Potential difference at the ends of a conductor is maintained by connecting a battery or a dry cell across the ends. ... Battery is a device that helps to maintain potential difference across a conductor.

Why potential difference is not constant in series?

There is no accumulation of charge anywhere in the circuit. ... In the series circuit, as electric current flows through the resistors and other components of a series circuit, the potential drops with each component. Hence, the voltage does not remain constant in a series circuit.

What is meant by constant potential?

Term. Definition. Constant Potential (CP) Charge. Charging technique where the output voltage of the charge source is held constant and the current is limited only by the resistance of the battery.

Is there a current flow if the potential difference between two ends of a conductor are same?

No current will flow between the two ends of the conductor if they are at rhe same potential because current flows between any two ends only due to potential difference.

What is meant by potential difference across a conductor?

Potential difference is the work done in moving a unit of positive electric charge from one point to another. ... Ohm's law states that the current through a conductor between two points is directly proportional to the potential difference or voltage across the two points.

When the potential difference across a certain conductor is doubled the current is observed to increase by a factor of three What can you conclude about the conductor?

When the potential difference across a certain conductor is doubled, the current is observed to increase by a factor of three. What can you conclude about the conductor? It does not obey Ohm's Law. It is a perfect conductor.

Is potential difference directly proportional to resistance?

Ohm's Law as a Predictor of Current

The current in a circuit is directly proportional to the electric potential difference impressed across its ends and inversely proportional to the total resistance offered by the external circuit. ... And the greater the resistance, the less the current.

What happens to the current if the voltage increases?

Ohm's law states that the electrical current (I) flowing in an circuit is proportional to the voltage (V) and inversely proportional to the resistance (R). Therefore, if the voltage is increased, the current will increase provided the resistance of the circuit does not change.

Which law is proved in the experiment of electric current?

Answer: Ohm's law is proved in the experiment. At constant temperature current flowing through a conductor is directly proportional the to potential difference across the conductor.

What is the resistance of a light bulb if a potential difference of 120v will produce a current of 0.5 a in the bulb?

In fact, the 120-Watt bulb would have a current of 1 Amp and a resistance of 120 Ω; the 60-Watt bulb would have a current of 0.5 Amp and a resistance of 240 Ω.

What is the difference between current voltage and resistance?

Voltage is the difference in charge between two points. Current is the rate at which charge is flowing. Resistance is a material's tendency to resist the flow of charge (current).

When the applied voltage is constant the current is more with?

when the applied voltage is constant, the current is more with resistance.
