International is owned by Health International Co. The company provides
consumers with a comprehensive weight management program that emphasizes
personal support to help clients develop a healthy relationship with
food, and create a more balanced approach to living. Centers are located
in the United States and Canada. The field of weight management, recognizes
the growth potential of this expanding market with researchers and the
medical community confirming the growing incidence of obesity and its
correlation with disease and premature death.
Government statistics released in July 1998 estimate that 54% of the
adult population in the U.S. -- nearly 100 million people -- are overweight
or obese. Furthermore, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
("CDC") reported in October 1999 that the number of adult Americans
considered obese soared by nearly 50% during the 1990's and confirmed
that overweight and physical inactivity account for more than 300,000
premature deaths each year, second only to tobacco-related deaths. Obesity
is also fast becoming a worldwide problem of global concern. Pure Health
International is dedicated to reducing these numbers, and hopes to help
